Who says imagination and spontaneity are only for the young? Not our friend songwriter Mary Beth Maziarz, who wrote the book Kick-Ass Creativity. To get your juices flowing, do the opposite of your natural tendency, says Mary Beth. If you’re normally a spur-of-the-moment type, structure your approach by committing to “a page of writing, a walk after work, or remembering to take a multivitamin,” suggests Mary Beth. If you ordinarily live life by the book, experiment with a different type of coffee or a new route to work. Regardless of your personality, says Mary Beth, you can “pull out of an uninspiring spiral by trying something new.”

My advisor said I didn’t have the personality to be a nurse. She talked me into taking the Health Information Technology degree. I got the degree but still don’t feel complete. I feel like my life is always the wrong piece for the puzzle.
