Our friend Melina Jampolis, MD, tells us how to defeat that swollen feeling: 1. Steer clear of artificial sweeteners. 2. Go easy on soft drinks and sparkling cocktails. 3. Don’t use straws: you’ll suck in way too much air. 4. Drink water with lemon. “It’s a diuretic so it helps nix water retention,” says Melina. 5. Add fennel to salad, soup, and sauce. 6. Eat kefir and yogurt, which are stomach-soothers and can reduce bloating.
